Melbourne's fabulous new Convention and Exhibition centre is located on the banks the Yarra River, opposite Crown Casino, it is by far the largest convention and exhibition centre in the Southern Hemisphere; it caters for all type of events, for further information please go to www.mcec.com.au
The Convention and Exhibition Centre is only 5-6 minutes' walk from Alto Hotel on Bourke; as you leave the hotel, please turn right into Bourke St and walk 100 meters to the corner of Spencer St.
Turn left into Spencer St. and walk 400 meters to Flinders St., now cross the Spencer St. Bridge over the Yarra River and you have arrived, the MCEC is on your right, opposite Crown Casino.
Arriving by Tram
Tram numbers 96, 112 and 109 travel down Spencer/Clarendon streets and stop opposite the Clarendon Street entrance of the MCEC.
Tram numbers 48 and 70 stop at the end of Flinders Street. Walk towards the Yarra River, across the new pedestrian bridge.
Arriving by Taxi
Taxis take 20 minutes from the airport and cost around $40.
Drop off points are at 1 Convention Centre Place or 2 Clarendon Street, South Wharf.
Arriving by Train
Take the train to Southern Cross Station. Take any of the following Tram numbers 96, 109 and 112 travel past Southern Cross Station down Spencer/Clarendon Streets and stop opposite the MCEC.
Arriving by Bus
Bus route 238 operates to and from Southern Cross Station to Convention Centre Place between the hours of 10am - 3pm, Monday to Friday. The coach pick-u/drop-off point is coach bay 1, Convention Centre Place (closest to DFO South Wharf).
